A Guide To Penis Pumps

Penis pumps, often referred to as Vacuum Constriction Devices (VCD) are external devices that are designed to increase the blood flow to your intimate area, stimulating instant growth, increasing sensitivity, and prolonging your erection. What’s not to love?

Safety First

As with all aspects of Kink, if you experience any pain, notice any discolourations or loss of sensation – stop immediately. If you notice any blisters, red spots or reddening the area, we recommend resting for at least 24 hours.

Don’t overdo it! Yes, the results are fantastic but overpumping can have the opposite effect. It can desensitise the area, damage tissue, and even affect circulation. Listen to your body and avoid pumping every day. Remember; a little pumping goes a long way.

Types of Pump

There are a variety of pumps available, so how do you choose the right one for you? Regardless of the penis pump you buy, make sure that the vacuum has limiter that keeps the penis pump’s pressure from getting too high. Here are some of the most common types of pump out there:

Electric Pump

An electric pump does all the hard work for you! It’s easy to use and will achieve the results you want in 30-60 seconds. Once your penis is fully erect, the pump will automatically turn off. However, it does take away the element of control and can be a little loud when operating.

Hand Trigger

Apart from electric pumps, hand trigger pumps are the easiest to use and generate the strongest suction. It does take a little longer to achieve a full erection (around 2-3 minutes), but it’s worth the wait! Some pumps, such as the Pump Worx Digital Power Pump (€ 81.79, kinky.ie), come with an LED digital gauge attached that lets you know the pressure of the pumping chamber, allowing you to monitor your progress and stay in control.

Squeeze Pump

This is the most common type of pump – they remove air from the cylinder with every squeeze. They take longer to generate a strong suction and the desired result, which is ideal for beginners and those who prefer applying low and gradual pressure. We recommend Pump Worx Silicone Power Pump (€ 35.05, kinky.ie)

Water Pump

A pump with a twist – warm water in the pump stimulates blood flow and improves circulation. The result? Increased sensitivity and a stronger suction. Water pumps take a bit of getting used to, so before moving on to something like the Bathmate Hercules Enlargement Pump (€ 81.79, kinky.ie) we recommend playing with some other pumps first.

Getting Started

1. Before you begin, the penis needs to be semi or fully erect. Take your time messaging the area and getting yourself in the mood. If you’re using a Bathmate water pump, you’ll need to begin with while flaccid.

2. Apply lubrication to the opening of the pump and to your penis, so it will slide in easily and will help create an airtight seal.

3. Insert the shaft of your penis into the cylinder until the base of the pump is pressed firmly against your body, which ensures that the toy is airtight.

4. Hold in place and slowly pump to increase the pressure, taking time to get used to the sensations and pressure.

5. Continue pumping until the penis is firmly erect. Stop and check your penis from time-to-time – if there’s any discolouration, pain, or bulging of veins then stop immediately.

6. Once you’re at full pressure, or you’ve been pumping for 15 minutes (you shouldn’t exceed this), stop and slowly open the air release, allowing the air to disperse and your penis to slip out of the pump with ease.

Once your penis is out of the pump, it will gradually return to its normal size. If you want to maintain the extra length and girth for longer, slip on a cock ring before pumping. We recommend Durex Pleasure Ring (€ 12.84, kinky.ie).
