A Beginner’s Guide To Nose Fetishes

nose of a woman

A lot of fetishes have been glorified by porn and BDSM books, yet nose fetishes, also known as nasophilia, remain relatively taboo. A fetish can include the sexual attraction to a physical aspect or form of the nose (shape and size), or a specific area (the bridge or nostrils). It can also be the desire for contact and interaction, such as stroking or erotic sucking, or specific fantasies such as the desire to penetrate the nostrils.

Is it odd? The truth is, there’s no such thing as normal when it comes to sex; we are all different in our sexual desires and kinks. If everyone agrees, there’s plenty of communication and you are both safe, it doesn’t matter what you and your partner are into.

Where Do Nose Fetishes Come From?

Experts have yet to agree on a cause. Some sexual behavioral specialists have traced fetishes back to early childhood before they were even aware of their sexuality. Others have dismissed these claims completely and believe that fetishes come from social interactions in our teenage years, where we quickly establish what is taboo (which we then lust after) and what isn’t.

Sigmund Freud famously interpreted the as a penis substitute. The nose – like genitalia – has vascular (erectile) tissue, which has the capacity to become engorged during sexual arousal. There are certainly explicit links between sex and the nose in scientific literature, and the relationship between sneezing and orgasm have been deliberated by scientists with evidence suggesting that sneezing may be perceived as ‘orgasmic’ due to the sudden release of tension after a build-up. Sneezing has also been linked to the low-level release of endorphins in the brain – all of which add up to a feel-good reaction.

Types of Nose Fetish

Nasophiles nose no bounds. It can be one aspect or a combination of factors including:

1. Particulars about the nose (nostril shape, size, ‘button’ nose, e.t.c)

2. Jewellery and piercings

3. Sensory interaction with the nose (licking, rubbing, kissing, sucking, e.t.c)

4. Penetrating and/or cuming in the nose

5. Transformation ( changing into the nose of another species, like a pig, as a form of sexual humiliation or changing shape or size very quickly with use of props)

6. Sneezing

7. Picking of the nose

This is not an exclusive list, but should give you a sense of the diversity of fetishism.

How to Incorporate a Nose Fetish Into Your Sex Life

The first step is to discuss the fetish, at length, with your partner. Not sure where to start? There are supportive communities and sharing sites that provide information and support on communicating your fetish with a partner. Your partner might not warm up to the idea at first – boundaries need to be respected, and you should work to address and discuss and concerns or questions they might have.

The biggest goal is to make the fetish seem less all-encompassing and more a part of a healthy sex life that turns you on, while also focusing on all of the things that gets them going, too. After all, your intimate relationship should never be one-sided. Discuss ways that you can work your fetish into the sex play so that it’s fun for you both. For example, you could give your partner a face massage (focusing heavily on the nose and the area around it): it’s great for them and part of the foreplay for you! Kissing your partner from head to toe, lingering around for a while, is also another option.

On the whole, nose fetishes are completely harmless. If it causes pleasure and no one is being forced to take part or is being hurt, it’s not an issue. After all, the key to a fulfilling sex-life is to keep an open-mind and try new things – you may both end up stumbling upon a kink that will really get you hot under the collar!
